A Modern Fountain from Daylight to Dark
The 14-inch Crystal Sphere creates a reflective water display in a smaller format than our 24-inch version. Its transparent acrylic sphere fills with water, then overflows through the opening at the top. Water travels over the curved surface and across the steel bowl before returning to the concealed basin.
Reflective Water Movement
The clear sphere and continuous sheet of water reflect the surrounding landscape, creating an appearance that changes with the light throughout the day.
Color-Changing Lighting
Our included IllumiGlow® three-light LED system illuminates the fountain from below, adding color and visibility after sunset.
Coordinated Components
The pump, underground reservoir, lighting, support assembly, plumbing, and decorative pebbles are supplied together, reducing the guesswork of matching individual parts.

Plan for the underground reservoir, not just the visible bowl. The bowl measures 24 inches in diameter, but the included Achelous AquaBox® has an overall outside diameter of 39.5 inches and stands 16 inches high. Allow extra working room for excavation, backfilling, electrical access, and pump maintenance.

Plan Your Installation
The Crystal Sphere is installed over a buried water reservoir. The following stages explain the work involved; use the official installation manual for exact component placement, connections, and leveling instructions.

Choose the Location
Select a suitable viewing area with access to clean water and electrical service. Confirm underground utility locations before excavation.

Excavate & Prepare
Excavate slightly wider and as deep as the basin. Remove sharp rocks and roots, then level and compact the entire basin base.

Set the Achelous Basin
Position the basin approximately 1 inch below grade, keep its bottom fully supported, and orient pump access toward the electrical source. A splash-apron installation may require a different grade setting.

Install Equipment
Assemble the pump, discharge plumbing, screened grates, support ring, steel bowl, and lighting in the sequence shown in the manual.

Position & Level the Sphere
Connect the sphere intake assembly and seat the acrylic base plate on its support cylinder. Carefully level the bowl and sphere before filling with water.

Fill, Test & Finish
Start the pump and allow approximately 10–15 minutes for the sphere to fill. Check water movement, lighting, and drainage before completing the landscape finish.
Important Water-Level Guidance
As the sphere fills, water moves out of the underground reservoir and into the visible fountain. The reservoir may appear approximately half empty during normal operation.
Do not top off the operating reservoir unless the pump sputters or draws air. Overfilling while the fountain is running can cause the basin to overflow after the pump is switched off. Allow approximately 5–10 minutes for the fountain to drain after shutdown.
Cleaning, Maintenance & Winter Care
Keep the Water Clear
Because the sphere is transparent, suspended debris can be visible inside it. Check the water condition, screened basin, pump pre-filter, and plumbing regularly.
Use fountain-safe treatments only as directed. Our installation manual does not recommend chlorine or chloride-based treatments.
Care for the Acrylic
Use plenty of water and an acrylic-safe cleaning pad. For more thorough cleaning, use mild soapy water and a clean, soft cloth or towel. Rinse thoroughly.
Avoid abrasive cleaning methods that could damage the clear surface.
Prepare for Freezing Weather
Unplug the fountain and allow it to drain. Disconnect and empty the sphere, then remove and protect the appropriate support and lighting components according to the manual.
Leave water in the buried basin during winter to help prevent frost heave. Clean and prepare the system before spring startup.
Preserve Proper Operation
Keep pump access serviceable and inspect the pump's intake and pre-filter. Check that the fountain is level and that water returns to the basin as intended.
Follow the complete manual before removing or repositioning the sphere. Never attempt to adjust its position while full of water.
Important Light-Refraction Safety Notice
Light refraction through the clear acrylic sphere can create a fire hazard. The steel bowl helps reduce the risk, but it does not eliminate it. Keep vegetation, mulch, leaves, and other flammable materials clear of the fountain and surrounding installation. Maintain appropriate clearance throughout operation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the 14" Crystal Sphere Fountain require a pond?
No. The fountain uses a concealed 60-gallon reservoir beneath the installation. Water circulates through the sphere and bowl before returning to the basin, so an open pond is unnecessary.
Does the fountain need a permanent water connection?
No permanent water connection is required for normal recirculation. You'll need clean water for the initial fill and occasional replenishment. An automatic fill kit is available separately if you want that convenience.
How much room should I allow for installation?
The visible steel bowl is 24 inches in diameter. The underground Achelous Basin measures 39.5 inches across at its widest point and 16 inches high. Allow additional space for excavation, backfilling, electrical routing, and future servicing.
Can I choose black or mixed polished pebbles?
Yes. Select your preferred pebble finish when ordering. The kit includes 120 pounds of the selected color, equivalent to three 40-pound bags. The black and mixed choices are alternatives, not two complete sets.
Can I purchase the acrylic sphere separately?
No. The Crystal Sphere Fountain is offered as a complete kit. Its sphere is not sold as an individual product.
How long does the fountain take to fill and drain?
According to the 14-inch installation manual, the sphere takes approximately 10–15 minutes to fill after startup. The system takes approximately 5–10 minutes to drain after the pump is switched off.
How should I prepare the Crystal Sphere for winter?
Unplug the pump, allow the fountain to drain, and carefully disconnect and empty the acrylic sphere. Follow the manual for removing or protecting the support and lighting components.
